Passion, Precision, and a Brush of British Columbia

Greetings! I'm Matthew Hillar, a passionate designer originally hailing from Ontario but now firmly rooted in the picturesque landscapes of Kamloops, British Columbia. From my earliest days, I've been captivated by the world of design. Whether it was sketching on the margins of my schoolwork or painstakingly recreating skateboard and snowboard logos, my creative journey began with a pencil in hand.
My formal design education led me to Thompson Rivers University's DAAD program (Digital Art And Design), where I honed my skills and found my true calling. Today, I specialize in logo design and branding, striving for designs that not only look good but also serve a functional purpose.

Design Philosophy: Functional. That's the one word that encapsulates my design style. I believe that every element in a design should serve a purpose, not just aesthetically but also in terms of conveying a message or solving a problem.
Inspirations: Aaron Draplin is a designer who has had a profound influence on my work. His dedication to craftsmanship and authenticity resonates deeply with my own design principles.
Creative Tools: My trusty companions in the design process are Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom. They allow me to bring my ideas to life with precision and finesse.
Client Relationships: Building strong client relationships is a cornerstone of my design process. Getting to know my clients and truly understanding their needs is what enables me to create the best possible solutions. I believe that design is a collaborative effort, and my goal is to exceed my clients' expectations.
Beyond Design: When I'm not immersed in the world of design, you'll find me enjoying the great outdoors. Whether it's carving down the slopes on a snowboard, exploring scenic biking trails, hitting a softball out of the park, tinkering with cars, or embarking on DIY wood projects, I draw inspiration from my hobbies and interests.

As I continue to evolve as a designer, I look forward to embracing new challenges and opportunities. The future of design is ever-changing, and I'm excited to play a role in shaping it.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work. If you have any questions or would like to discuss a potential project, please don't hesitate to reach out.
